What is Acupuncture? Acupuncture is the insertion of small needles into the body at specific points discovered by ancient Chinese for health benefits. It has been used for thousands of years for safe, fast, effective, low cost, and non-invasive treatments with little to no side effects.
What is Acupuncture good for? In an official report, Acupuncture: Review and Analysis of Reports on Controlled Clinical Trials, the World Health Organization (WHO) has listed the following symptoms, diseases and conditions that have been shown through controlled trials to be treated effectively by acupuncture:
Acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for people of all age groups from toddlers to seniors.
Most people experience some benefit with just one treatment!
Cumulative treatments are best for longest lasting effect. The number of treatments depends on the nature of the complaint, severity, and duration, but the average amount is 3-15 sessions. Certain types of chronic problems require regular treatments over time.

What Can I Expect from a Treatment? To experience the best possible treatment, follow these simple suggestions:
Take the time to fill out questionnaires properly.
If your medicine list is very long, it can help to bring a print out.
Don't wear a lot of jewelry or else be prepared to take a lot of it off and store it. Wear comfortable, loose, stretchy clothing, but avoid one-piece items like coveralls or dresses. You may be asked to
change into a hospital-type gown or wrap if your clothing prevents clear access to treatment areas.
Avoid treatments when tired, hungry, too full of food, emotionally taxed, or shortly after sex.
If you have an active menstrual cycle, it best to receive acupuncture when you are not bleeding, but acupuncture can
still be administered during menses.
Maintain good hygiene to reduce possibility of bacterial infections.
Relax and feel free to ask the practitioners questions if that helps soothe your mind. If you experience extreme
discomfort, cold sweats, or dizziness make sure your practitioner knows this. Your comfort is one of our highest priorities!
It is important that you do not make drastic movements or change positions while acupuncture is being administered. Discomfort or injury may result.
What Can I expect after treatment? Most people feel great after a treatment, but there could be some residual disorientation or soreness in some areas.
Tiny blood spots or bruises are not uncommon to find after treatment as well. Generally, you should expect to feel improvement, however this could take up to 24 hrs to notice. The effects of a single treatment may last anywhere from 3 days to a week, for some
Your practitioner may give you some exercises or nutritional advice to follow-up on. It is your responsibility to do
that. He or she may even prescribe herbal medicine, ear acupressure/seeds, adjunct therapies, or refer you to see another
specialist like a chiropractor or massage therapist. Failure to follow advice may result in diminished or short-lived results.
We look forward to serving you!
Reflexology is a treatment for your feet that stimulates your body's healing response. Eastern theories of Chi or Qi show the energy meridians have terminating points in the feet which can be activated with sound or pressure. The treatment can be intense, but should never hurt or cause injury.
Types of Massage
Enjoy the massages at Dragonfly Wellness Center! We specialize in resolving structural issues and improving function.
Therapeutic Massage This type of massage is preferred by clients who need pain relief or rehabilitation from sports injuries and traumas. Unlike the traditional deep tissue, experienced at many other massage places, Dragonfly Wellness Center practitioners use a light touch and
stretches similar to Thai Yoga Massage. This gentle massage is even more effective than the traditional pounding and high pressure massages due to it's accuracy and is safe for those with delicate tissue and bones. It is a modern deep tissue massage which will not cause harm to make muscular corrections. We incorporate Critz Therapies, Ortho-Bionomy, and Traditional Deep Tissue Massage with clinical assessments based in Kineseology for a remarkably wonderful result. **Wear stretchy clothing for most comfortable option.
Standard Swedish Massage This type of massage is perfect for people needing to relax and unwind from a long day, but have no other pains or body issues. Swedish massage is performed with a light touch with an emphasis on increasing circulation in the body.
Clinical Massage Choose this massage for a traditional firm pressure deep tissue massage with myofacial massage plus passive and active release within a flowing routine dictated by the body's feedback. **For simplified draping: wear bikini/trunks and/or sports bra/shorts.
Lomi Lomi Massage This massage is best done without any clothing, but draping is used for modesty and to comply with State regulations. Lomi Lomi is a Hawaiian form of massage that has long flowing strokes that run the length of the body. Its a deeper level of relaxation.
Cupping Therapies We use high grade silicon cups with lotion or oil for lifting and gliding over the tissues. The feeling is adjustable and can be light for manual lymphatic effects and as strong feeling as a deep tissue massage without the compression. Lifting the tissues improves circulation and can be done to leave no marks or left stationary for a deeper circulation effect (may leave marks when used stationary).
Combination Massage If you do not fit into the above categories, feel free to ask if a combination
massage is more appropriate for you. Our staff would be delighted to create a custom made session just for you!
Yes! We do pre- and post-natal massage. We can work to resolve back pain, pubic bone pain, high belly conditions as well as hip alignment issues. Our work is safe from conception to full term. If you are having complications, please consult your physician before receiving massage.
